The New York Mets have announced they’ve signed infielder Phillip Evans to a minor league with an invite to Major League Spring Training.

Evans, 25, was outrighted off the Mets 40-man roster earlier this offseason and became a free agent in doing so.

The utility guy went 10 for 33 (.303/.395/.364) with two doubles, one RBI and four walks in 19 games for the Mets at the major league level in 2017. He played both third and second base.

Evans slashed .279/.341/.418 with 26 doubles, three triples, 11 home runs and 56 RBI for the Las Vegas 51s in 2017. He played second, third, shortstop and also got his first exposure to left field.
