Gavin Cecchini made his professional start at second base and was flawless, “Gavin was outstanding at second base,” Backman told Las Vegas 51s beat writer Betsy Helfand after the game.

Nimmo continues to lead the league in hitting with teammates Rivera and Cecchini the two closest competitors. Nimmo also has the second highest OPS in the PCL now at .978, trailing Rob Segedin‘s .989. Eric Campbell drove in three and homered on the night but the big highlight was when he hit a ball that clearly looked foul then defied physics and went fair, you can watch it here.

Shaw was called up before the game to make his Double-A debut from the Columbia Fireflies.

St. Lucie Mets (72-60) 4, Jupiter Hammerheads 3 Box Score

With the win the Mets move 1.5 games ahead of Jupiter for first place in the second half. They play each other three more times to finish the season and now St. Lucie only has to win one of those to clinch a playoff berth.

Flexen was absolutely dominant throwing 62 pitches with 45 for strikes and the only runner he allowed was on an error. The Mets lost the no-hitter with none out in the 7th inning.

Silva was part of a flurry of Mets minor league roster moves yesterday, he started the year in the DSL and was with the GCL Mets before making the spot start last night. The 19-year old did pretty well and showed off a biting breaking ball.
