Jim Gemma shared on the 51′s website that team play-by-play broadcaster Russ Langer was named on January 9th, the 2013 Nevada Sportscaster of the Year, by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA).
Langer was named the winner in his seventh straight year and the ninth time in the last 11 years that he has received this award in the state of Nevada.
Gemma shared Langer’s reaction to the award:
”I’m so very grateful from the support of the NSSA members for granting me this amazing honor,” Russ Langer said.
Langer is entering his 27th year in broadcasting and this upcoming season will be his 15th year as the play-by-play announcer for Las Vegas. The Game and live audio is available on the 51s website (www.LV51.com).
The 55th Annual NSSA Awards Banquet will be held on June 9 in Salisbury, North Carolina.
