As reported by Baseball America today, outfield prospect Eris Peguero, who was released by the Mets on October 16th, was resigned by the team.
Peguero was signed by the Mets in 2011 and played in the Dominican Summer League and in 63 games he batted .308/.376/.392 with nine doubles, four triples, one hone run, 20 RBI, 30 stolen bases in 237 AB. In 2012, he was sent to Kingsport and in 37 games, he batted .273/.305/.326 with one double, two home runs in 132 AB. His limited at bats were because he fractured his right hand and was forced to be shut down for the season. In 2013, he played most of the season with Brooklyn with a small stint in Kingsport and combined he batted .224/.268/.313 with four doubles, one triple, in 67 AB.
The decline in numbers I am sure has to do with having to adjust after fracturing his hand, so if the Mets re-signed him the hope is that he gets back on track and continues with his development. No word yet on where he will play in 2014, but my guess is he will start in Brooklyn, and work his way up based on how he does this coming season.
