In their 8-0 win, Kingsport third baseman Mark Vientos accounted for seven of the eight runs scored. In fact, it was the best game of Vientos’ professional career going 3-for-5 with two runs, two homers, and seven RBI.
The two homers and seven RBI were career bests, and the three hits were one off his career best, which was set earlier this year.
The two homers hit were part of a recent home run barrage from Vientos. He has hit four homers over his last six games.
Over this stretch, Vientos is hitting .391/.481/.957 with a double, four homers, and 11 RBI.
Seeing stretches like this, you get a sense why the Mets selected him in the second round of the 2017 draft. Seeing stretches like this, it’s easy to overlook the fact he is an 18 year old that is 2.3 years younger than league average.
