WBNG reports Marion O’Connor bequested $195,159 to the City of Binghamton to be used for maintenance, repairs, general expense, and special projects at the publicly-owned NYSEG Stadium.

NYSEG Stadium is the home of the Mets Double-A affiliate Binghamton Rumble Ponies.

Already, the City of Binghamton knows how it wishes to utilize the money. According to Binghamton Mayor Rich David, the money will largely be used to upgrade the concessions which have not been upgraded since 1992.  Additionally, the netting along the first and third base lines will be extended.

With these additions, Mayor David says, “The memories made at the ballpark last a lifetime and we’re thrilled to continue Ms. O’Connor’s legacy with investments that every fan who enters NYSEG Stadium can enjoy.”

As a thank you for Ms. O’Conner, the Rumble Ponies will host a day in her honor; a Big Brother/Big Sister Day that matches her benevolent spirit.

In the press release about the bequest, the City of Binghamton stated, “As part of the promotion, the winner of an online competition for the best submission about why it’s great to bring your Big Brother/Big Sister to the ballpark will receive two free VIP tickets and get to throw out the first pitch.”

Overall, everyone involved is extremely thankful for the bequest, and they want to honor the woman who made it. = To that end, Rumble Ponies Assistant Manager John Bayne said, “We want to honor Marion next year so everyone that walks through the gates, her presence is felt.”
