The Chicago Cubs have signed former New York Mets farmhand Alberto Baldonado to a minor league deal according to our own Jacob Resnick.
We recently did a roundtable at MMN to choose which minor league free agent the Mets should re-sign and Baldonado was the answer from seven of eight of our writers.
Baldonado, 24, had a 4.80 ERA, 1.38 WHIP to go along with 64 strikeouts and 28 walks in 60 combined innings between the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies and the Triple-A Las Vegas 51s in 2017.
Despite his struggles in Vegas(6.65 ERA, 1.62 WHIP), the lefty reliever held left-handed hitters to a .188/.274/.294 slash line last year.
We wish Baldy all the best in his new organization.
